LLanka Rent

Bike rental in Mirissa

Mirissa is compact but hilly, and the best viewpoints — Coconut Tree Hill, Parrot Rock, the secret beaches east of the harbour — all sit above the bay. A bike with a little torque makes them painless. Whale-watching boats leave from the harbour at 6:00, which is another good reason not to depend on a tuk-tuk.

Rides worth taking from Mirissa

Mirissa → Coconut Tree Hill

Three minutes up the point; park at the bottom of the track and walk the last stretch.

Mirissa → Matara & Dondra Head

35 minutes east to the island's southernmost lighthouse.

Mirissa → Secret Beach

A short climb west on a rough lane — go slowly, the surface is loose.

Local riding notes

  • Harbour road is busy before 6:00 with whale-watching traffic.
  • Several lanes are steep and sandy; a 125cc handles them far better than a 50cc.
  • Overnight parking is safest inside your guesthouse gate.
